The Sony Walkman MP3 player is an amazing invention in the world of music. If you are an avid Apple fan, you will surely go for the iPod. But if you want to broaden your horizons and try something new, Sony Walkman would be ideal. I have been using the product for over a year now, and I am extremely satisfied.
So why I chose Sony Walkman?
I have to travel for about 2 hours daily from my home to my workplace. In the long, boring journey I wanted to listen to some music to soothe my ears. I needed something portable, easy to carry and storing a collection of my favorite songs. iPod would have been the ideal choice. However, when I saw the iPod Shuffle in the showroom, I found it extremely small and something easy to loose. So, I looked for other options. I found the ideal match to my requirement in Sony Walkman. At 4 GB, not only it can store a gamut of songs, but it also has a facility to connect to FM Radio - which is absent in iPod. Moreover, it's more economic than iPod. After listening to the music quality in a storeroom demo, I was sure, I want this ring thing!
Features that wow me
The Sony Walkman never fails to amaze me with its absolutely wow features. Here's discussing a few of them:
Portability: It's the size of your ring finger, so easily fits into your pocket. You can take it anywhere with you and groove into your favorite music.
Easy to recharge: The player has an USB interface. You can connect it to the USB drive of your desktop, laptop or even DVD player to recharge it. Charging is simple and takes 3 to 5 minutes. The battery charge expires depending on your usage. A graphic indicator shows you the amount of charge left so that you can easily understand when the player needs recharging.
Hold Option: The Sony Walkman MP3 Player has a Hold option which is just like locking the keypad of your mobile set. Since the player can be started with the feather touch of the Start button, it's very helpful to put the player on Hold. That way, your battery charge won't be wasted.
Player Mode Varieties: The player has the following modes:
Voice - This is the Voice recorder which lets you record on your own. You can make a live recording, or even record a song when the FM Radio is playing.
Music Library - This is the playlist where the songs that you have added to the player are stored. You can store a song by simply connecting the player through USB port to your desktop or laptop. You just need to copy paste music files from your computer to the MP3 player drive. Later on, you can also delete some old files and add new music files.
FM Radio - This is one of the best things about the player. You can connect to all local FM Radio channels. You can manually select the station you want to listen to or even automatically let the player select a station for you.
Settings - You can go into the Settings menu to change your music settings, FM settings or recording settings if required.
Easy navigation: You can easily navigate through the music files stored on the player. The shuffle button of the player allows you to skim through the variety of songs and make your selection. You can also navigate through the various player modes like MP3 player, FM Radio, and Recorder.
Earphones: The player has standard earphones which are comfortable to your ear buds and they have good performance even after one year.
Should you go for it?
I would definitely recommend it with a big "Yo". The excellent music quality, the ease of use, the stable performance - all these makes this device a champion for me.
Criticism?
Well, you need to regularly check the battery charge and if you are listening to 2-3 hours regularly you might have to charge it every alternative day. And yes, if you are an Apple fanatic, you might still want to go for the iPod. But remember the friend, iPod does not give you FM Radio. So, if you want both the radio and all your favorite songs in a single MP3 player, Sony Walkman is your answer. Go get your music buddy!
